The drive from Marbella to Ojen:
The drive up from Marbella to Ojen is a 10 minute drive on a very good quality road. It is an unlit country road and it is does gently meander through the mountains with great views at times and you pass pine forests and large out of town restaurants frequented at weekends by people from Marbella who want to eat more rustic cuisine.
Proximity to the coast and a huge selection of beaches:
Ojen is superbly located to offer a slower pace of life and a pueblo blano (white village) feel in the mountains. Yet the coast is just 15 minutes drive away. There is a beach for everyone along the Costa del Sol from luxurious beach clubs to free and natural coves with sand dunes to beaches renowned for water sports. Of course there are beaches backed by chiringuitos (beach bars on the sand). You can dine in luxury or enjoy deep fried squid and chips and everything in between. There is something for everyone along the coastline and what is guaranteed – every trip, you can return to peace, away from the bustle of the coast!
The population is just under 4,000 residents who are mostly Spanish but there is a good mix of Northern Europeans and British too.
The town is nestled between two mountain ranges and has a river below. It is a traditional town with whitewashed houses, narrow streets, a plaza with tapas bars and a festivity calendar that includes the annual Feria in October, flamenco music events, and both mountain bike and motorbike competitions.
The town may be traditional in style but it has modern convenience too such as; take-away food, high speed Broadband, a supermarket, large outdoor municipal swimming pool, quality football stadium plus tennis and padel courts. There is also a great outdoor market every Saturdays.
The enormous La Canada shopping mall with every high street brand is only 10 minutes drive down to the coast. Every kind of supermarket is in this area too, from luxurious to budget shopping.
Ojen is a wonderful place to integrate into local life, yet the conveniences and jet-set lifestyle of Marbella are only 10 to 15 minutes away. Puerto Banus is only 20 minutes away also.
It is a 40 minute drive to Malaga Airport where there are flights from all major European countries and some International flights too. Of course, there are internal flights to many major Spanish cities and to the islands also.
About the seller
The seller is called Victoria, she is German and she speaks fluent English. She lives at the house full time having raised 5 children in the home. They are grown up now and it is time for her to move on, although she is very happy in the house and loves Ojen.
