BEJA. Located in Lower Alentejo and district capital, Beja is a charming city and filled with history.

Its population is around 35 000, in an area of 1100 km2, one of the biggest municipalities of our country. Founded by Celtic tribes around IV a.C., it became a city many years later in 1524.





Its beautiful castle, the Santiago and Misericórdia churches, and the Jorge Vieira and Rainha Dona Leonor museums are a mandatory visit to get to know the town’s past. There are a lot of pleasant green areas such as the city park and the public garden, and lots of shows and concerts are held in the Pax Julia theatre all year long.
