BRAGA. Known as Minho’s Capital, Braga is one of the biggest cities of the country and a reference in the north of Portugal.
Its population goes beyond 120 000, and its total area is about 54 km2.
Its rich history speaks for itself: it was erected in 16 b.C by the Romans, naming it Bracara Augusta, reorganised in the 11th century after the Reconquista, and on that same period the Sé de Braga was built. Some of the historic places to visit are the Santuário do Bom Jesus, Mosteiro de Tibães and the city castle.
Some of the cultural highlights are the beautiful Teatro Circo, Fórum Braga (one of the biggest concert venues of the country) and, of course, the Minho University, a very important teaching and scientific research center.
Its gastronomy leaves no one indifferent: you can delight yourself with delicacies such as the Bacalhau à Braga, Papas de Serrabulho of the Abade de Priscos pudding, among many others.
Some of the most important accolades gathered by the city are the European Youth Capital (2012), European City of Sports (2018) and European Destination of the Year (2021).
At Urbamarkt we have a huge variety of houses to buy and rent in this wonderful place.
